Initial Experience at SPOC

We asked a few of our newest employees to share what it was like for them on their first few days as part of our team. Their reactions and thoughts go a long way to describing the kind of culture we are creating here at SPOC. Each of our new teammates is in a different department of our organization, from Training to Marketing to Sales. Some are coming from inside the industry, while others are coming to us from other areas. Read below to see what they have to say about their initial experience here at SPOC Automation.

I have been at SPOC for a few weeks now and have had an awesome experience so far.

From the time I first learned about this position, I have had a very favorable impression of SPOC Automation. Talking with Bobby about the company, combing through the website and social media posts and then interviewing for the position, all reinforced my positive initial impressions.

Since taking the job and going through the “Quote to Cash” on-boarding process, the experience has been even better. I learned what the company does, the role each department plays in the big picture, and I got to know a little about each person. The tour also gave me insight into the morale of the company. There were no negative comments or impressions in the entire process. So many people shared the same sentiment: that this is the best place they have ever worked.

I have never been anywhere that the morale across the board was so uniformly positive, and I am thankful to be a part of the team here at SPOC Automation.

P.S. It was also really cool when I got the great big box of swag!

Moving to a new company can be a daunting experience — new location, new commute, new office, new people, which means a brand new dynamic to get used to. I typically ask about the company’s culture when I am in the interview process, just to get an idea of what it will be like when I start there. When I interviewed with Bobby Mason at SPOC Automation, I was told that the culture is one where the people are important and valued, that a good idea can come from anywhere, and that there is a sense of bonding and a family-like atmosphere. It's easy to believe those are just words and not the reality, which has been my experience at previous jobs, but at SPOC things are different.

The first day in the office, my initial on-boarding was to “follow the product” from inception of an order all the way to shipping and into aftermarket. I had the chance to meet and learn about each stage from the people who perform each step on a daily basis. These people were actually living the culture that I had been told about! I was invited into each office and given an overview of what they do in terms that I could understand. (This is a new industry for me and a brand new vocabulary to get used to!) Then I was given the chance to ask any questions I had about what goes on. Each and every person I spoke with told me how excited they are that I joined the team and even went on to talk about how this is such a great place to work ... without any prompting from me.

That is just a testament to how the people here feel about the leadership and the company as a whole. To me, that speaks volumes about the culture and environment here at SPOC — that each person really is valued for what they provide to the team, how passionate they are about the product being put out, and you can almost literally feel the camaraderie in the air. I had numerous people stop by to ask me how my day was going and if I had any questions or needed anything throughout my first few days, which made me feel like I was already a part of the family! You can tell there is a personal touch to everything SPOC does, and it comes from the amazing culture that is being cultivated by the people here.

So, my initial experience at SPOC. I am not sure where to begin ...

I have had the opportunity in my life to be affiliated with multiple large oil and gas service companies and a couple of smaller equity-backed organizations. What I can say about SPOC that I have felt was profoundly different is that I was provided with the chance to freely interact with employees, literally from the cleaning crew through the executive level of the organization. This unique opportunity provided me with the chance to inquire, at all levels, about what made SPOC a great place to work as well as how the staff felt about what they were doing and how they felt about the organization.

The deciding factor in my coming to work for SPOC was the universal attitude that the employees felt valued for their contributions, that they were recognized as essential assets to the company's success. I'm not sure that you could ask more from your employer.

During my on-boarding process, I was able to interact with team members from order origination through the build of products and the shipping process to customers. Being able to spend time with the engineers who have developed products and who were working on the next generation of offerings was invaluable in providing me an understanding of who SPOC Automation is and where the vision of the organization is going. I really enjoyed being able to visit with the various product build teams and getting an in-depth review from the engineering group on the various SPOC offerings.

All in all, this is the best experience I have had in joining a new team and getting educated as to what the organization was all about.
