The Value of Distributed Controls

Over the course of many years, we’ve had the chance to work on a number of large salt-water disposal projects, working with midstream operators, contractors, engineers, automation experts, electrical contractors; we’ve worked with just about everyone connected to midstream operations.

We’ve learned some valuable lessons working on these projects. Time and time again, we see operators struggling with the same issues. First, too many people look at their variable frequency drive as an accessory to their pump. The truth is a well-designed drive should actually be the heart of your entire operation — connecting all of your field devices and giving you control over the entire system.

The drive is also the first line of protection for your primary mover. There are a number of reasons why you should rethink the role of the drive in your processes.

In our latest episode of Two-Minute Drives, Bryan Lile talks about the many ways a drive does more than just make your water flow more efficiently. Check it out.
